Hi and welcome.

Put simply the majority of my work is street photography. It is the everyday ordinary moment we all experience but do not take the time to fully observe or recognise. I use the camera to document these little moments in time, to register them as actions, to elongate them and give them space to breathe into life.

I have a love for all things Noir and this is something that informs my work greatly. I do this by choosing to focus in on and use big interesting structures, dark shadows, exciting natural light, open and isolating spaces with as few people per image as possible.

Although my work is now much more deliberate, it has been something that has slowly developed over time, with no other reason other than I like to photograph. As I continue to grow as both a person and a photographer so to will the work I make and the message it conveys but that is not the important thing. The important thing is that each viewer finds what they want and/or need in my work – in the story – and leave being able to take that with them. I’m happy with that.

  2. LOVE the current image…It makes me want to do a painting of it. Gorgeous.

I actually read (and loved) Stig of the Dump when I was little. 🙂

    1. Thank you. A painting, now that is awesome, I would love to see that. Stig of the Dump was forced upon me in an early English class of mine but after the first chapter I was hooked. It is an excellent book.

    1. Thank you very much, you are very kind to say. I just go out and walking a lot of the time, sometimes with good company and sometimes by myself, and usually come across something interesting. Two minutes of the usual beaten path and I find all sorts of wonderful zany stuff, so far I have been very lucky. Thank you

  3. Dear Astra Wally – Jean’s got a one person show opening at Howden Park Centre this Thursday night from 7 – 9pm. She would be delighted to see your skinny ass there – as would I.

    Hope to see you dude.

    2. I really like the Alienation theme you described that you focus on, and it reminded me of one of my favorite short stories “The Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka. ❤ I'm not sure how well it relates to your artwork but I just thought you might enjoy it. It has a strong Alienation theme. If you don't want to read it, I wrote a summary with my 2 cents about it on my blog…lol.

Best of Luck and I'm excited to see what you post next!
