“Looks like you found a great spot!”, I was feeling chatty. I’m not always the most interactive person when I am out on the streets. I mean I raise an eyebrow, nod my head, smile, I acknowledge people, I’m not a total animal but I rarely burst into full-blown conversation and by conversation I mean short, sharp snippets of words thrown at people. However, in this situation, I was too close not to talk, “You gotta grab the sun when you can”.
‘Yeah’ and a smile was what I got back. Politeness. I wouldn’t respond with much more to me either, some random with a camera, taking small, edgy steps, pointing a camera in my general direction, I must look like a complete weirdo to. As soon as it started it stopped, she closed her eyes and gazed into the light, I wondered on. There was an extended, awkward moment as I walked the wrong way and had to double back. The British part of me kicked in and I had to say some random, “nothing down that way, what am I like, eh?”, nonsense. It’s why I tend not to say nothing at all because when I do it is nonsense.
I actually had to do nothing with this scene, it was all set up and ready for me. Just walked up, had a chat, snapped and wandered off. Easy.
Post production was also fairly smooth and easy, just a little tweaking to heighten the contrast and that was it really. Job done.
