I like the giant bike that has been painted into the road. It’s like penny farthing big. Do people ride bikes that big any more? I once saw a man on a unicycle just pedaling towards his destination with a look of pure joy stretched across his face. If I could, I would. Why wouldn’t you? What a joyful way to start your day.

This area didn’t stay clear for long, traffic passed by regularly, every three minutes or so, but there was a small period, around thirty seconds – guessing not counting – where the scene was completely free of all stationary vehicles. Thank you miss-timing traffic lights. As the traffic broke, I saw that everyone was in their places, or at least in some sort of place, so I snapped off a few shots to make sure I got the one I wanted. I did.

The original was a little squint – I’m glad I don’t unicycle, actually judging by this horizon line I am surprised I can walk in a straight line – and was a little lacking in contrast so in post processing I straighten up the image, cropped in tighter, heightened the contrast and then burned the shadows to remove any distractions. In the end I was happy with the result.
