I followed these tiny square patches of light, like breadcrumbs, to this quality cut of light. I immediately liked everything about the area; the wedge of light cutting into the building, the highlighted trees, the segments of light on the floor and the way they mimic the tiled squares on the wall, all of it! All I needed was the human element, so I squatted down and set up the scene. There was a plethora of people around, thanks to the fact that the area is business hub, so I didn’t have to wait long for everything to fall into place.

Original unedited image

To get this image I took a small series of 16 images over the course of five to ten minutes. I lightened the image, heightened the vibrancy and burned the blacks to give the image a little more contrast. A touch of extra grain and the edit was done.

… I do like those squares.
