Boss and Stef have been friends for years, longer than years, and it is a tight bond that will last long after the last bombs have been dropped. They can talk to each other about everything, without saying anything and its only getting stronger. One cementing block of their friendship is Harry Potter. They are fanatical, like don’t whisper a bad word about it or you will end up with your head on a stick fanatical. Trust me. Avada Kedavra!
“SO. the plan goes like this. Sam and I will get up early and uses the passes to beast the Gringotts as many times as we can and, Niall, you and Graeme can have a lie in, get the bags ready, checkout and then meet up with us. OK? Good”. Stef had all the ducks in a row.
Months before we departed Boss told me that we would all be staying at a Universal hotel for two nights. “It’s like, fifty bucks each and we get into the park an hour earlier than everyone else and we can skip lines for rides. It’s definitely worth it”. And so it was set. Boss and Stef could ride all the Harry Potter rides they wanted, earlier than everyone else and as many times as they wished while Niall and I could sleep in, grab the bags and check out. That may sound like the thin edge of the wedge but that hotel was pure luxury. It was Flowers for Algernon when we eventually got back to our regular hotel room.
We wandered around Universal taking in all the rides we could, admired the merchandise on offer, it was hard not to binge buy everything and stopped for the occasional ‘park pizza’. For those who wish to know the Jurassic Park area has the best Pizza. I mean it is most certainly the exact same, mass produced, cheese topped, tomato drenched, fluffy, puffy, doughy pizza in every part of the park, cooked in the exact same, oven-grill kind of way but not all of them are surrounded by dinosaurs. That’s your difference maker right there. Every now and then we’d pass by a superhero or a couple dressed up in their favourite movie attire or little wizards/ witches clad in robes terrorising the faux streets of London. Magical. There are no rules in a place that is surrounded by movie props, nor should there be.
